A True Filipino Hero

CNN HEROES- Efren Peñaflorida was bullied by gangs in high school. Today, he offers Filipino youth an alternative to gang membership through education. Efren Peñaflorida, 28, is a true Filipino hero because he Help those children living on the street by pushing carts with books, his main tool to teach street children a basic reading and writing. Peñaflorida knows firsthand the adversity faced by these children. Born into a poor family, he lived in a shanty near the city dump site. But he says” he refused to allow his circumstances to define his future.” Today, children ranging from ages 2 to 14 flock to the pushcart every Saturday to learn reading, writing, arithmetic and English from Peñaflorida and his trained teen volunteers. I’m very Overwhelm and inspired by the work of my fellow Filipino. GOOD JOB!
